Can I sell my art online if I don’t live in the USA? In this video, I share an answer to a popular question can you license your designs online if you are not from the USA.

If you don’t live in the United States and want to sell your vector pattern designs, illustrations, photographs or another kind of digital goods online, you might be not sure if you can do it.

The short answer is yes, you can. I am not familiar with 100% of all websites and their rules so this is still based on my personal opinion.

Currently, I do live in the USA, California, but I started licensing art while living in the Netherlands. Originally, I am from Ukraine and I have friends who successfully license their art from there too, as well with many countries.

You will most likely be able to license your designs or illustrations on microstock and print-on-demand websites as well. just to make sure, please email the support of the main microstock websites (for example Shutterstock) and print-on-demand Spoonflower and ask them.

A few things to consider:

1) You will need a Paypal account and the ability to withdraw money from it. This is NOT the case for many countries. If you can’t have a functional Paypal account, you can use bank check via mail option to receive your funds or sometimes there are other alternatives like Payoneer card or Skrill. I have not used these last two options myself.

2) You will have to fill out tax forms anyway if the microstock website is from the USA or Canada. This is normal and needs to be done.

Will print-on-demand websites send products to your country?
Probably yes, but it’s best to email and ask before ordering.
