Happy holiday season, my amazing, creative friends! I have always enjoyed holidays and ever since becoming a Mom, I love it even more 🙂 Now I get to come up with all kinds of international traditions to try and have fun with for our family. Yay! Hope your holiday season is filled with love and creativity.

I have been working on a new experiment for the last month now and it’s finally here 🙂 This holiday season I set out to create a vector repeat pattern collection now available in my Spoonflower fabric shop  that was experimental and in many ways not traditional for winter holidays as I love experiments and surprising and new combinations. So here is the result… Ta daaa…

I played with traditional deer and penguin animal characters for this collection in combination with non-traditional purple, pink, orange, and blue color palette. Lately, I am sticking to the combinations of purples, pinks and other colors to see how consistent I can make my work why changing the other colors and styles significantly. So far, it has been an awesome exercise as I have always stuck with picking pretty random colors to each pattern I created 🙂

I created element sketches on my iPad Pro using Adobe Draw app and my iPencil and then developed them into a pattern collection using my Symbols on Repeat method as well as my own collection templates in Adobe Illustrator CC. After all of the patterns and a placement print have been done and a collection layout has been created, I created a few fabric mockups to showcase them on a fabric available in my Spoonflower shop:

Always so fun to see your designs on fabric, isn’t it? By the way, I used these mockup templates to create mine. I used these fabric mockup templates that I purchased from Creative Market: Fabric Factory vol.1: Cotton Mockup and Fabric Stack Mockup Set. These are Photoshop files and I used my JPG pattern versions to create them. I loved them! I later added the collection details and my logo in Adobe Illustrator.

I couldn’t stop there…

I was so curious to see how these designs will look on physical products that I released them also on a whole line of fun products in my Redbubble shop! Yep! 🙂 Here are a few of my favorites from this collection that I am so excited about.

I am also working on a new section on this website called “Shop” where I am going to consolidate all of the places I have my designs and physical products for sale. I have been wanting to experiment with this for a long time and I will, of course, report back to you, my creative friends, how everything turns out with my experiments.

What do you think of my holiday collection? I’d love your feedback 🙂 Please share the links to your 2018 holiday collections that you created in the comments below 🙂

I feel so much love for my family and also for you, my creative friends, this holiday season! So grateful for you! I wish that my design experiment will inspire you to create your own today and to share it with the world as well <3
