If you are a textile designer, graphic designer, digital illustrator, vector or raster artist, and researching which graphic pen tablet to purchase for your creative business, This video is for you.

In this video I talk about:

1) Is Wacom Cintiq better than Wacom Intuos Graphic Pen Tablet.

2) My personal experience using Wacom tablets.

3) Health issues I had after using Wacom Cintiq tablet.

Over the last 10 years of being a freelance textile designer and owning a textile design business I owned 3 graphic tablets:

* Wacom Bamboo CTL471 Pen Tablet (2 years)

* Wacom Cintiq 13HD Interactive Pen Display (3 years)

* Wacom Intuos 4 (5 years) – current version is Wacom Intuos Pro Pen and Touch Small Tablet.

I liked my Wacom Bamboo at the time but dreamed of upgrading to Wacom Cintiq and upgraded after 2 years. I really enjoyed using it for my vector art until I illustrated a children’s book and totally stressed out my neck, shoulder, and wrist. So my doctor recommended me 3 months of rest and changing drawing tablets to the one without a screen. I had to sit upright and look at the screen again.

I listened and did that. I purchased Wacom Intuos 4 ( now Wacom Intuos Pro) graphic tablet, which doesn’t have any screen, and my health improved quickly.

I loved working with both Wacom Cintiq 13HD Interactive Pen Display and Wacom Intuos 4 drawing tablets for my freelance textile design work and my vector illustration work. They filled my work needs perfectly, but ergonomics and health issues with Wacom Cintiq made me prefer Wacom Intuos more.

Why I Chose Intuos Over Cintiq: A Story of Health and Efficiency.

About 10 years ago, I started my journey as an artist using a Wacom Bamboo tablet. Later, I upgraded to a Cintiq and was ecstatic about it. I remember the days when I used to draw on my Cintiq in my studio in the Netherlands, it was a wonderful experience. I had it for about three years and loved using it to create beautiful works of art.

However, as time went by, I started to have physical issues with my back, neck, and arms, especially my right arm. Despite my love for drawing on the Cintiq, I was unable to find a comfortable posture that wouldn’t cause me physical pain. I had no choice but to sell my Cintiq and take a break from work.

When I moved to the United States, I bought an Intuos and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed using it. It didn’t take me long to adjust to looking straight at the screen while I work.

I believe that whether a Cintiq or an Intuos is right for you really depends on your style of work. If you require highly detailed work, a Cintiq might be the better option for you. But for me, I don’t need that level of detail and I’m able to do all the work I need with my Intuos.

Another bonus is that using the Intuos has helped me sit with a straighter spine, which is better for my overall health. I’ve set up one of the buttons on my Intuos to quickly access the mask tool in Adobe Illustrator, which has significantly improved my workflow.

In conclusion, I’m a fan of both the Cintiq and Intuos, but for the sake of my health, I’m glad I switched to the Intuos.
