How to stop tweaking your designs for too long and complete your artwork faster.

Today I have a special formula I developed myself to help deal with this issue and I am going to teach it to you, my friend.

I call it my “Repeat and Complete” formula:

Step 1: Complete a repeat pattern layout so that it is technically correct.

Step 2: If you feel the urge to “tweak” and perfect your design, set timer for 20 min on your phone. (I like to use a Google app with the voice control to set my timers, so handy!)

Step 3: After the time passes, stop and SAVE your design. Close it or step away from your computer.

Step 4: Come back to it in 1 hour or the next day and open your file. Looks great? You are done with it. Congrats! Looks a bit wrong? Set the timer again to 20 min to do a final tweak. NOTE: Work on a COPY of your design, not the original file because you might want to go back to the first version.

Step 5: STOP after the time is up and save what you created. It is now good enough for you to move on.

Of course, if you feel like you created technically incorrect work with repeat errors than you need to fix it and make it right.

I am talking here about the unnecessary hours and days of tweaking and shifting things around, not the technical repeat part.

This simple formula will save you tons of frustration and days and days of time + will build your pattern portfolio really fast.

Enjoy and please let me know how it goes.
