How to test your trimmed vector repeat pattern design with this awesome Adobe Illustrator action.

Hi, my amazing, creative friends! Helloween is coming up and hip skeletons are getting ready for it! 🙂 My daughter is old enough to enjoy Helloween this year, so we might even go trick-or-treating this year. Don’t think she’s going as a skeleton, though… Probably a Princess of some kind 🙂 She is still deciding!

Let’s get to our learning…

In this video, I talk about how to test your trimmed vector repeat pattern design with this one awesome Adobe Illustrator action that I created myself many years ago. I am so happy to share a step-by-step method how I check my cropped vector repeat pattern designs for mistakes after creating a file.

If you are creating vector repeat pattern designs and trimming them for microstock use, and want to learn how to test your trimmed vector repeat pattern design with this awesome Adobe Illustrator action, then this video is for you.

I talk about:

1) How I test my trimmed vector repeat pattern file to make sure there are no mistakes in the composition and trim. I also share how to check your cropped vector repeat pattern file for common mistakes.

2) How to create a custom action – Test Swatch Circle – to speed up the process of checking your vector repeat pattern files for mistakes before uploading them for sale to microstock websites. I teach you how to create custom Adobe Illustrator actions to improve your workflow for common vector design tasks.

3) This video will be helpful for you to learn how to prepare vector patterns for microstock websites and why to check your pattern for mistakes.

You can create your own Adobe Illustrator action by following the steps in my video or you can request to download my ready-made Ai action Test Swatch Circle here and install it on your computer.

Here is how to install your new action:
  1. Download your action Zip archive file.
  2. Save it to a folder on your computer. I recommend creating an “Adobe Illustrator Customizations” folder.
  3. Unarchive your zip file to see your  “.aia” file.
  4. Open your AI and open “Actions” panel.
  5. Click on a drop-down menu in the “Actions” panel and select “Load Actions”. Then navigate to your “.aia” file and click on it.
  6. now you should see a new action in your “Actions” panel. Enjoy! 🙂

We are getting ready Helloween with a series of vector repeat patterns with fun, jumping, dancing, playing music, and skateboarding skeletons. Here is one of them created as a collaboration with my talented Team Oksancia member, Yana.
